St. Andrew's Cathedral Honolulu
St. Andrew's Cathedral in Honolulu was the idea of King Kamehameha IV, who died before the church was finished. His brother Kamehameha V took over the project for him, which was completed in 1867. Today, visitors are taken on guided tours to see the many features of the church, including the Bell Towner, a labyrinth, the kuono or sacred space and the largest organ in the Pacific.
Built between 1836 and 1842 in New England style architecture, the Kawaiahao Church was the first Christian Church in Hawaii. Twenty-one royal portraits, a great fountain and a courtyard adorn the building. The church is open Monday through Friday from 830am to 4pm. Congregational services are held on Sundays at 8am and 1030am, as well on Wednesdays at 6pm.
